News: Non-lucrative visa. Changes affecting those of state pension age making applications.
S1 form must now be electronically pre-registered before Consulate meeting.
In recent days we have started the see the Spanish Consulates requesting that state-age pension applicants, with an S1 document, (healthcare in Spain) pre-register the document online with the Spanish Social Security before their non-lucrative visa interview at the Consulate. This is a new development and may catch-out the unwary. Those making applications for non-lucrative visas and arranging private healthcare are unaffected at this time.
Presently, both the instructions and the form for completion appear to be in Spanish only. The online form is completed on screen with instructions to then save it to your computer. We would recommend that you emailed the attachment to yourself, so you have an easy-to-retrieve copy of it in your email in box. That said, we have looked at the form and in its current state is not user-friendly for people who are not fluent in Spanish or competent computer users.
