The international real estate company CBRE estimates in its Spanish Residencial Report that demand for new housing will be 120 - 140 thousand units per year for the coming few years. There are currently about 60 thousand homes under construction in Spain.

During this period the report forecasts prices to rise 4-6% annually in average. However, prices of new builds are expected to rise by 8-10% yearly in high demand areas such as Costa Blanca. Interestingly, the report also lists Alicante province as the second most active area in the country for new development, after Madrid. Earlier Barcelona has usually taken the second spot in these kinds of rankings.
